This is a beautiful brass “hanging uruli deepak,” an oil lamp designed for wall mounting. The top portion of the piece features an ornate design centered around a stylized lotus or floral motif, with two peacocks or similar mythical birds gracefully perched on either side, their tails forming part of the decorative scrollwork.
Below this intricate upper section, a deep, bowl-shaped oil reservoir, reminiscent of a traditional uruli (a shallow, broad vessel used in South Indian homes), is integrated to hold oil and a wick. From the bottom of this deepak, a small, traditional bell is suspended, adding an elegant detail.
