This is an exquisite brass “Hanging Kamal Deepak,” or lotus-shaped oil lamp. The central element is a beautifully detailed lotus bud or flower motif, from which an ornate, stylized design emanates upwards, featuring intricate scrollwork and flourishes. Below this, a bowl-shaped oil reservoir, designed to hold oil and a wick, is elegantly integrated.
Three small bells are suspended from this piece by brass chains: two hang from the sides of the central structure, and one hangs directly below the oil lamp, creating a charming auditory element. The entire deepak is crafted from brass with a golden finish, showcasing traditional Indian artistry and designed to be hung as a decorative and functional item, often used for spiritual purposes.
